Late Breaking News

There doesn't seem to be any late-breaking new concerning Fort DeRussy, does there?

Unfortunately, since the State has taken over the site, not much happens out there. In the summer of 2010, the Marksville State Historic Site was put into "caretaker" status. Marksville SHS was the site that administered Fort DeRussy until it could be developed, so now that the administering site is not operating, you can imagine how much effort is being put into Fort DeRussy.

Friends of Fort DeRussy will continue to push for development of the fort, but not a lot is going to happen anytime soon. We will continue to be the squeaking wheel, and eventually someone will give us some grease.
