Late Breaking News The Louisiana State Legislature adjourned for the year on Monday, June 19, 2006. Once again, they have put $850,000 in the Capital Outlay Bill for beginning development of the Fort DeRussy State Historic Site. This is great news, BUT . . .
It doesn't mean anything unless this money is approved by the State Bond Commission. SO . . .
We Need Your Help.
We have got to get the Bond Commission to approve this expenditure. It is normal business practice for the Legislature to approve more projects than the State can actually afford, so unless we can be the squeaking wheel, we will not get the necessary "grease" to start the Fort DeRussy project.
Please, take a few moments to contact someone on the State Bond Commission, and ask them to approve the expenditure for Fort DeRussy. We have been extremely lucky the past two years to have the Senate President, Dr. Donald Hines of Bunkie, looking out for our interest. This can not go on forever. We need to get the money this year. Your talking to someone on the below list will be invaluable. We need you now.
